[This message is far more strained than the previous check-in, and this time Kurama isn't starting out with video.]
It would be wise for us to stay in contact for the foreseeable future. The unpredictable nature of this place is certainly taking its toll on those they call Chosen, it's best that we stay safe, however we can until a solution is determined.
Kurama. [ Hiei is keyed up, that vicious growl in the back of his throat even through the devices. He hasn’t thought about turning on video, but perhaps that’s for the better with Yukina involved.
Lest she get a video of a very familiar corpse that Hiei is knelt down next to right now. ]
[ Does he want to talk about this in front of Yukina? Not really. He knows she will have an emotional reaction and doesn't particularly want to be the one to deliver the blow so to speak.
But here he goes anyway - ]
Yusuke.. [ One more hesitation, here. ] ... Yusuke is dead.
[He doesn't see the point in reiterating Yukina's concern, and the response comes promptly enough. Kurama answers after a pause on his end, tone pointedly neutral.]
I am, and I did not. [ There's a moment where he hesitates - he saw who did it, and he wants to follow, but there is also a part of him that doesn't want to just leave Yusuke's body out in the wild like this, either.
Hiei tends to be decisive in these moments, at the very least. ]
I saw them leave, though. Kurama - do we gather him up or leave him here?
[ Look... he's going to kowtow to Kurama's wants, here, lest he get an earful for leaving Yusuke out there after his murder. ]
I want to follow him and take care of the problem.
[The response is said quickly enough to sound impulsive, uncharacteristically so. Of course, Kurama has ensured tracking on each of them, to prepare for situations much like this where one of the group couldn't speak for or defend themselves.]
There is nothing you can do for him now, I will come to collect Yusuke shortly.
Mn. [ Kurama confirming what he wanted to do is accepted easily enough. Hiei, being the willful little thing that he is, will accept that if Kurama is coming to pick him up they have their bases at least somewhat covered.
Hiei pauses a moment when Kurama tells him to be cautious, waffling for a moment on how to respond. Most immediately he chafes at it, but realizes that considering the situation, the fox’s concern is valid.
They can’t really afford to be down two, even if Kurama is a powerful strategist.
A little nod follows, quiet acceptance of the other’s concern. ]
I will. [ he won’t, but in his terms he will. ]
Yukina, stay put as much as possible. Or with Kurama.
[There was so much going on in Yukina's mind. She was trying to process all of this and she wasn't sure how to react. With a long sigh, she had to admit defeat.]
[voice] un: 🌿 (for Yukina and Hiei)

We have a problem.
[Voice] Un: ❄️
[She was aware that things would get difficult after everything that happened. However, to hear Hiei speak like that was unusual.]
Is everything okay?

Are you with him now? ... Did you witness it?

[There was a gasp behind her voice. It was a good thing this was through voice, she didn't have to see his dead body.]
...Why would anyone do such a thing?!

[That said-]
Be cautious, Hiei.

...Are you sure? Do you two need anything?

[She said with some silence afterwards.]
Let me know if you need anything else. Are you going to be okay, Hiei?
no subject
[and probably too busy to answer.]
I will check in, shortly.
